The Patriots come into this game as the favorite at home, as they have odds of -9.5 points against the Texans. The over/under total for the game has been set at 47.5 points. Both teams have so many impactful players that could make or break the outcome of the game. According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Texans running back Arian Foster has over/under odds of 88.5 rushing yards in this game. New England tight end Rob Gronkowski has been given odds of -180 to score a touchdown, while he has odds of +140 to not score.

Gronkowski has been a touchdown machine with the Patriots. He has 38 touchdown receptions over the last three seasons, including 17 last season, which set a new NFL record for tight ends. This season, Gronkowski missed five games due to injury, but he still had 11 touchdowns catches in 11 games. He has at least one touchdown catch in his last five games and only went without a score in three of 11 games this season. Despite his success in the regular season, Gronkowski was held without a touchdown in two of New England’s three playoff games last season. Gronk didn’t play in New England’s 42-14 win over Houston back on Dec. 10 of this season. The Texans’ defense has allowed 29 passing touchdowns this season, which was the sixth-most in the NFL.

Foster rushed for 1,424 yards this season and he has been the real catalyst for the Houston offense in recent seasons. He averaged 89 yards per game, but rushed for at least 89 yards in 10 of the 16 games in the regular season. He followed up his regular season with 140 rushing yards in the playoff win over the Bengals last week. In Houston’s loss to the Patriots on Dec. 10, Foster had just 46 rushing yards, but also had just 15 carries. That was the third-lowest carry total he had all season. Last week, Foster was given 32 carries. The Patriots come into the playoffs ranking ninth in the NFL in rush defense. The Patriots give up an average of 101.9 yards per game on the ground.
