COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - After getting a close-up look of the national championship game as a TV analyst, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer did not rush back and tell his own players how close they are to competing with the likes of top-ranked Alabama. Not even close. Meyer says even discussing with his players challenging the nation's elite teams next year is ``like me talking about we have to go fly to the moon.'' The Buckeyes went 12-0 in 2012, finishing No. 3 in the Associated Press poll after serving a bowl ban. Meyer, who is enthused so far about his upcoming recruiting class, added that he would demand his veteran players make substantial improvement - particularly on the defensive line, at linebacker and wide receiver. |
