MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – Who will step up for Alabama and Notre Dame in tonight’s BCS National Championship Game? Here is a look at the player prop odds available for this game.

Alabama comes into the game as the favorite, as the Crimson Tide have odds of -9.5 points against Notre Dame. The over/under total has been set at 40.5 points. The focus on this game will be on the play of Alabama running back Eddie Lacy and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o. According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Lacy has been given over/under odds of 89.5 rushing yards, while Te’o has been given over/under odds of 7.5 tackles.

Lacy has rushed for 1,182 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. That works out to an average of 90.9 yards per game. Lacy has been the team’s horse in recent games, as he has rushed for at least 92 yards in his last four games, including 181 yards against Georgia in the SEC Championship. Lacy has rushed for at least 90 yards in six of the team’s 13 games. One issue of concern for him will be if he gets enough carries. He splits time with T.J. Yeldon, and Alabama tends to ride the hotter back. The Notre Dame defense is very strong against the run. The Irish are third in the nation in rushing yards allowed, giving up just 93.3 yards per game on the ground, including just two rushing touchdowns all season.

Te’o has been the leader of the Notre Dame defense all season. He has 103 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss. He also has 11 pass deflections with seven interceptions. He has been all over the field throughout the season. Te’o had an average of 8.6 tackles per game and with Alabama’s combination of run and pass, there will be plenty of opportunities for him to make tackles. Te’o had at least 8 tackles in seven of the team’s 12 games, but failed to do so in the last four games of the season for Notre Dame. He will certainly be a focal point of Alabama’s blocking schemes, but it is tough to keep a linebacker of his caliber from making plays.
